Two surefire ways to catch a Champion of an act in Tamworth

You only have two chances of catching Greg Champion in concert in Tamworth this festival - and it's NOT Buckley's and none!

They are both at 2.30pm on Wednesday and Friday, January 23 and 25, at The Longyard Hotel, where he's been invited to host two special afternoon events, featuring some delightful duets with award-winning South Australian songwriter, Penny Burke.

Tickets, at $22, are available from The Longyard, phone (02) 6765 3411, or call in to the hotel's bottle shop ticket box, on the Sydney Rd, Tamworth.

Tamworth audiences will be treated to Champs' 18th straight year of crowd-pleasing shows at The Longyard, after which he's heading for the Victorian Country Music Awards on Friday, February 8, where he's a finalist in six categories - heritage, songwriter's composition, independent album, bluegrass, Victorian male vocal and Victorian album of the year.

As a Coodabeen Champion for the past 27 years, heard nationally Sunday nights on ABC Radio, and with a swag full of festival and corporate gigs, the entertaining songwriter's dance card remains a busy one.

As well as just two Tamworth Longyard concerts, Greg will make a guest appearance at the 30th annual TSA Songwriters' Salute Awards, where he and Gina Jeffreys will present the awards.

He will also celebrate his birthday at The Last Roundup at TRECC on Sunday January 27, a birthday he shares with Adam Brand, and Mozart!

Greg would love to See You Again Sometime, maybe By The Banks Of The Condamine, under a Shady Tree, or 88k From Alice, but preferably in the Goonoo Goonoo Room of The Longyard, where it will be much more comfortable.

If not this time around, he'll Love You Anyway, and you might catch up when he's Back This Way Again. But then, there's always Another Day, Another Town.

'Cos We're Old Friends, Champs has asked me to let you know he'll catch you Someday Soon... that is, if he's Not Dead And Not In Jail!
