we’ve won the wooden spoon

we’ve got the good old wooden spoon

wooden spoon we’ve lined it up since June

it’s the wooden spoon that we’ll win soon

fans used to jeer us

they used to fear us

but now the cheer us

‘cos now it’s twice that we’ve gone bottom

we’ve got the good old wooden spoon

we’ve got a lovely wooden spoon

and, next year, in spite of all the talk

we won’t win the spoon we’ll win the fork

and then the next year

while we’re still down there

we’ll get more kitchenware

then it’s the wooden bowl that we’ll get

to have a lovely salad set
